Who's Knocking at the Door
On Christmas Eve, the children gather around the Christmas tree, singing and playing while eagerly waiting for Santa’s gifts. Suddenly, a knock at the door catches their attention; outside stands an old tree shivering in the cold, nearly withered. The children immediately offer warmth and help, and in that moment, they transform from eager receivers of gifts into givers of love and kindness. “Who’s Knocking at the Door?”, winner of the Special Recommendation Award at the 11th Hsin Yi Children’s Literature Prize, uses a warm and gently surprising Christmas tale to help children understand that giving is more blessed than receiving. With its simple narration, festive atmosphere, and child-centered perspective, the story breaks free from the usual gift-exchange framework of Christmas tales, making it a holiday picture book that not only guides children in reflection but also resonates deeply with adults.
