A-wu remembers at a young age, she often threatens to "run away from home," and indeed, she does so. However, that green path she goes seems never end. Along the way, she sees beautiful scenery, and the legends from her grandmother's generation used for memorize ancestors. Young A-wu walks intermittently, even falling asleep by the roadside. When A-wu returns home, her grandmother says it's because of the protection of ancestral spirits that allows unknowing children to play along the way, and eventually return home. This is a childhood memory from the Paiwan tribe. The author: A-wu is one of the pioneers in creating the first Aboriginal humanities publication, and has a deep passion for promoting indigenous and women affairs.
