台南的「鹽水蜂炮」起源於19世紀末清朝年間，當時瘟疫流行，醫藥不發達，死者日益增加，居民恐慌，祈求關聖帝君解災救難。關聖帝君指示須於元宵夜由信眾隨神轎一路燃放鞭炮，繞境大街小巷至天明，繞境結束後，疫情就此消退，自此後代子孫每年均沿襲往例，每到元宵夜迎請關聖帝君元出巡。「鹽水蜂炮」是知名的元宵節盛會，人們也相信透過蜂炮洗禮，能消災解難，讓來年的運勢越來越旺。近年來透過國際媒體報導，更有了「世界三大民俗慶典之一」、「全球十大最危險祭典之一」、「全球十大最佳慶典」等頭銜，吸引不少國內外人士「全副武裝」前來體驗；繁體字/注音，適合六歲以上的小朋友。
Tainan City’s “YanShui beehive firecrackers” originated in the Qing Dynasty at the end of the 19th century. There was a horrible plague at that time but no medicine to cure it so the death toll increased rapidly. The residents panicked and prayed to the Emperor GuanSheng for relief. The emperor GuanSheng instructed the believers to set off firecrackers all evening on the Lantern Festival. Sure enough the epidemic has subsided afterward. Since then, people there have followed the old practice every year. "YanShui Beehive Firecrackers" has become a well-known Lantern Festival event. People believe that the baptism of the firecrackers can eliminate disasters and make good fortune in the coming year. In recent years, through international media reports, this event attracts more locals and foreigners. Traditional Chinese, Zhuyin, suitable for children over six years old.
